backdrop.
david headley was an ex-convict, who travelled many times to pakistan after 9/11/2001. he starts visiting india from 2006-2008 number of times on a multiple entry business visa. now he was presumed to have planned various terror attacks, including mumbai attack.
ok now.
1. an ex-convict, and a person who is on a FBI watchlist, how did he managed to get easy multiple entry VISA into india.
2. his various visits to pakistan, should'nt it have triggered an alert to ministry of external affairs (MEA) while issuing VISA.
3. his VISA papers went missing in embasy and took a long time to re-appear(not sure if correct paper has re-appeared).
4. when Dubai market crashed, many keralites and other workers were laid-off via SMS, and across india various channels showed how indian workforce are exploited and the poor conditions they live in.
now what does minister of state(MoS) for external affairs do. does he explain any of these goofups in his tweet or twitter.no.he remained silent on twitter about all of these issues, never ever uttered any word. finally when he tweeted on MEA policy, it was right away blaming visa restrictions that was ensured for security purposes. reason he cited
26/11 attackers never had any VISA--
this statement straight away looked utter foolish, specially becasue there is increasing evidence now that 26/11 "planners" had entered india using VISA. if VISA restriction was severe then, may be 26/11 would not have been planned in the first place.
business is affected because of this--
terrorist attack are not made only for killing civilians, it is also made to crash the business interest of the country, to stop MNC from investing in , make the country a financially instable place. perhaps this was the reason many attacks are made in mumbai, the financial capital of india.
so business interest is very closely assosciated with security. what use in giving unrestricted VISA to foreigners, which also allows certain loopholes and ultimately result in attack on the financial capital.
my opinion, MEA is one ministry which is not in great hands now, including SMK.

Lost symbol
Dan Brown novels have always courted controversy, like davince code, and certain sections of angels and demons, which is an absolute thriller. in both these works there will be outright attack on medevial catholic chruches and christianity in general. now with his latest work 'last symbol' there is little or no attack on catholics. and this i think has made the book a total flop(based on my reading only). there is simply logic less explanation for certain main events like CIA running behind a certain villain to stop the villain from releasing a video, and the CIA takes this mission as though a mission to stop the entire world from getting destroyed. the story dragged and dragged and dragged and i took a fair 2-3 weeks to complete. caution made to readers, please do not attempt this one, i already ignored one person caution and had to endure through this difficult reading.
another year is coming to end, recession is receeding, there are signs of recovery, india already has posted 7.9% growth last quarter when alalyst and experts around the world predicted only 6-6.5 growth in india.
i seem to be hearing "oru kal,oru kannadi" song from SMS movie a lot. dont come into any conclusion on "oru heartbreak" for me. i have very few songs in my system and amongst that this song is the best.
finaly one quiz question, how many states will be in india 5 years from now ?

This one goes out to...
i request request request request .....to hear the below song. easily the best song i have heard in recent times. do comment if you had liked the song.
"We weren't born to follow....." by jon bon jovi.
We weren't born to follow
Come on and get up off your knees
When life is a bitter pill to swallow
You gotta hold on to what you believe
Believe that the sun will shine tomorrow
And that your saints and sinners bleed
We weren't born to follow
You gotta stand up for what you believe........

A weak chirping sound.
coming off from work, started using social networking sites, i was one of the late entries in orkut and was amazed how all friends who i never hoped to meet where there right inside my machine, scrapping me messages, sharing photos.wow..really cool.
then one of my friend introduced to blogging. it was instant. blogging was like writing diary, i kept writing, writing, writing without caring how many people ever read my blogs. solitary comments came now and then, asking me to keep writing.sometime i read back the old blogs and relive if there are any special moments i have written and also gets amazed sometimes on my poor writing skills.
one thing i noticed in blog world is tamil blogging group, the group was a very interactive group, and i also noticed that tamil bloggers took special care in encouraging new bloggers to write by giving them awards, referring blogs within blogs. acknowledging good writing. and also somehow all bloggers looked like close friends sharing all good and bad news amongst readers.sometimes forming a group and helping people financially and morally on crisis situation. but along with these comes the negative part, you will see few comments, like writing bad about one personally, also some even writing a full post just to attack someone personally, and sometimes even ending up in body blows, hospital admissions (even these body blows and hospital admissions will be published in blogs). and there are few people who feel like writing whatever in mind is a very good form of writing and use bad words very liberally on a public forum. here i got a bit cautious, i like writing in tamil and i like arguing without any purpose (mostly to irritate the author on the subject), hot topics in tamil blogging will always be on religion divide(another matter of concern).i wish to read and write cautiously(to avoid body blows) more on tamil blogs.
the latest addiction which is stopping me from publishing my weekly blogs, twitter, i was attracted to twitter mainly because twitter was always the first to report a breaking news across the globe.it was twitter that reported president obama called kayne a 'jackass'. being a news maniac i signed up to twitter and found that it is actually a micro blogging site. to be simple you can blog in 140 words. and if you follow people correctly, just login to twitter and you will know all that you like to hear and read on internet on a single screen, many business are using twitter now, recruitment agencies are also using twitter for recruitment.if you wish to follow me you can follow at http://twitter.com/Sammy_I
after starting to use twitter,i hardly login to my orkut or facebook account.hopefully my blogging is not as much affected like orkut.

october kitchadi ...
weeks after obama was severely snubbed in denmark, thanks to olympics 2016. another european country, norway decided the guy is not bad after all and decided to offer the highest honour award one can imagine. mr.president was very gracious and humble in accepting the award.internet was set ablaze when the news came out, there was one comment i liked the most. //Fourth US President to win a Nobel, first to get one BEFORE he does anything//.
i must admit i am starting to enjoy the champions league t20 tournament happening in india, only because in the first week all the indian teams were dusted and brought to ground, when i imagine the amount of money spent on indian teams, and compare the same with other teams. does money destroy talent ? . in soccer i guess the most costliest teams are invariably table toppers. whereas in cricket mumbai, kolkatta..costliest teams have always fought only for wooden spoon. does this mean these business guys did not know where to put the money? or cricket is a game where you can have bunch of talented players and still lose.
two IPL teams have apparoached steve waugh for a coaching assignment, the guy very famous for his social cause and charity work in kolkataa declined the offer, only because he didn't want his charity work to be affected, i am not here to compare him with other indian players who only come in news for the record's they are setting in marketing deal's. charity is one thing you are not supposed to compare or speak out loud, a fmaous phrase for charity "your left hand should not know what your right hand has given" yet, for me guys like steve waugh are real cricketing legends.
there was a quiz i asked in my earlier post, answers are given below.
1. photo of udham singh when he was arrested in england. he ws the person who assasinated dyer for avenging jalian wallabagh massacare. he was also closely assosciated with bhagat singh.
2. the paper photo was blank editorial of indian express when emergeny was declared by indhira gandhi.
3."Babe" Didrikson Zaharias. In the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, she won two gold medals in the javelin and the 80m hurdles event. In High jump category, the judges, however, disallowed her jumping style (jumping over headfirst) in the final tie breaker jump. And she was stripped of Gold medal for high jump. But strangely she was allowed to keep the silver medal. Pic 3 shows The Babe Didrikson Zaharias Museum in Beaumont which is also the chamber of commerce welcoming center.
4.Brand Obama (connection)
Yes Pecan’ in support of Obama(Yes We Can) during his campaign.Pepsi had temporarily changed its logo in the U.S to support Obama.Ikea too launched an ‘Embrace the Change’ campaign inspired by Obama

Rukhsana Kauser - Jhansi Rani
..its time we celebrate bravery acts done by common people, armed LeT millitant who has been active on that area for 5 years was killed by this young courageous girl and her family.
JnK governor had already refered her name for galantry awards. hope more coverage is given to this single act, may be it will influence common man to fight against terrorism.

Quizzing week...
this week i got into a quizing tsunami, let me explain how it all started, last friday i was introduced to an ethical hacker and a quizzer, and it was easy for me to ineract with him in the second category, so it all started with who is vice president of india question, and went on to more advanced questions. it continued even in office, i was getting close to 50-60 mails daily on the week asking some quiz questions. participants in this mail contest were from different companies like BoA, hexaware, oracle and quiz was mostly dominated by hexawarian's.
also we decided to participate in a quiz competition organized by a famous business institute, it was a online quiz which starts at 10pm and closes at 11pm. but unfortunately for the level of knowledge i had, mostly i was found working on the quiz till...midnight 12.30-1.00 am. and sometimes even the next day. there was a business quiz, sports and entertainment and india quiz. our hacker friend came out in flying colours in sports quiz, whereas i was able to crack some questions in india quiz. business quiz was a complete failure.
i am going to post some questions for readers to try to crack questions, obviously i expect the gang with whom the answer was already shared not to answer here.
1.significance of this picture, (india quiz)
2.significance of this picture (india quiz)
3. connect the pict(sports quiz)
4. connect, to something entire world witnessed(business quiz)

short trip..short blog
this is the third time in as many consecutive years i am visiting kerala. this trip was interesting on various aspects, especially on planning, i think the planning started 2 months back., further reading of this post might not be interesting for many readers, yet in the habit of recording all my trips, i am continuing on my writing.
ok.the plan was to halt at palakaad and go on trekking expedition to a falls, visit a dense forest, and also to visit one of the various dams surrounding the city.
myself, subbu, mani,stanley...before starting to board the train went for a quite party at a very famous hotel chain in t-nagar chennai, this is one hotel chain i like the most in various cities i have visited, Quality INN. but unfortunately for us we found one small dead cockroach in one of the dishes served, the manager,chef..was summoned to our table. and we agreed not to make much of fuss, the hotel management in reciprocation decided to shower us with various main course as complementary dishes."on the house sir", said the waiter smiling.
there was a coincidence, earlier in afternoon we had watched a movie called 'ninaithaale innikum' in satyam and the movie started with same scenario of hero finding cockroach in food..and fighting with management.
ok. train journey, as usual involved creating nuisance for co-passengers, surprisingly this group of friends decided to sleep very early by 2.00 am(less nuisance, happy co-passengers) and there was a person called mani, who is also a gold medalist in loyola college, at this time mani found that he had lost his mobile, and just when we were thinking of pulling the chain and file FIR in whatever juridisction the train stops, another brilliant friend managed to track the lost mobile, co-incidence no.2. this friend prasanna is also a gold medalist from st.joseph college trichy.
well by now you would have imagined the gold company of friends i was travelling with in this trip. as train reached coimbatore, attention turned to thangaraj, thangs as he is called,is from coimbatore and took everyone to a restaurant in coimbatore,he says that was the best restaurant in the city, given the level of knowledge everbody had about the city, everybody agreed and food was really great.subbu somehow in this trip was having a very high blood pressure partly because he was the official tour organiser and partly due to stanley and myself.
ok. time to introduce other members in the trip, there was a hacker,a model and 'mari mari' aravind..along with prasana who was already introduced in this blog, this is the first time i am meeting these guys, and i thoroughly enjoyed the fun we had together, not sure if guys felt the same way.
i am yet to elaborate on whether the plan i mentioned in the starting of this post materialized or not. if you are still interested in reading about that, you can read it here ..courtesy thangs.

tharoor tweet....
Quesioner-"Tell us minister, next time you travel to Kerala, will it be cattle class?"
Shashi Tharoor- "Absolutely, in cattle class out of solidarity with all our holy cows"
since i am getting into a holiday mood in a friday afternoon, i decided to write this in office itself, lets go deep inside this supposedly funny statement. what this statement might hold for in his future political innings. there are 2 important words that demands attention in his reply.
"Cattle class".
minister called economy class in airlines as cattle class, referring to the crowd, and space between co-passengers, you see in a economy class. he later clarified he was actually blaming the airlines for boarding passengers like this. did he really ?
any shrewd politician opposing Tharoor, would say minister had called the majority indians who usually go by economy class, and other indians who still dream of flying..as CATTLES..some might even start saying minister called the working class people as dogs...and it will go on and on.. even i feel like a cattle when thinking of travelling in economy class.
next important word.
"holy cows".
before analyzing this word, we should rewind the events that happened in that week, madam sonia decided to fly by economy class, as usual it became a breaking news in all televisions..the next day more breaking news...rahul gandhi decided to travel by chair car in shatabdi express. one television sent their reporter along with rahul, and the event was again beamed across the country. now we all know for the entire congress community sonia and rahul are the most holiest posession...madam still is one of the powerful women in the world and rahul is the prince in waiting.
now co-relating shashi Tharoor "holy cow" comment to madam and rahul's austerity is not going to be a big headache for any critic or reporter or congressmen. this comment can also be linked to pranab...most senior person in congress who in the first place asked Tharoor to follow austerity.
ok what does the man himself who made the statement say. his twitter explanation was something like holy cows in most dictinoary a set of holy rules. again not satisfactory reply.
Shashi Tharoor says he is a diplomat for all his life, if i had the privilege of interacting with Tharoor i would first ask him to read meaning of the word "diplomat" in his own dictinoary. hopefully that should teach him how to tweeeettttttt....

kitchadi -YSR
..not a good week for AP, their charismatic leader has perished in an tragic accident. i have read several news now that, how he gave importance to farmers and agriculture sector. in my opinion Indian politics is very simple, if you are ready to take care of the farmers or rural sector, you will never be in danger of losing. Chandrababu naidu , SM krishna, these leaders were too friendly with IT sector and spent most of their time in IT revolution, they created lakhs of opportunity in IT still the very next election they faced they lost.somewhere they forgot about the farmers plight.
2 days after the accident, emotions and sentiments are still running high in AP, over 60 people have died either by suicide or heart attack now. sentimental idiots.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
...all weekends have become sports weekend for me now, just recently i
noticed that i am getting close to 8 sports channel in my TV. last 2 weeks have been spent watching some late night English premier league matches, F1 force India podium finish, and on Monday Nehru cup final, which India won. one of the major event i failed watching live in the past weeks was 100m,200m world record by bolt. they say next major event for bolt is commonwealth games, i am planning to visit Delhi to watch the event.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sania mirza received "double bagle" in US open, for those of you who doesn't know what double bagle, it is losing 6-0,6-0. a very very rare scoreline in major events. usually when we play tennis at my office, and if something like this scoreline comes, we used to give some charity point, so that the opponent is not too embarrassed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
movies...if somebody can suggest a good movie i will see that movie and write review . none of the movie i am seeing are worth writing reviews this week.

J
this week we will see about alphabet 'J'
Jinnah.
you go to a kid or guy like me in current generation and say the word 'partition' you most likely end up having conversation on how to partition your hard disk in computer, well 80 years ago the word 'partition' meant partition of undivided british ruled india, and the man behind it all was jinnah, BJP leader sometimes have praised jinnah, as he had opposed congress before independence. Advani once told jinnah was secular, and faced the wrath of RSS,he even cried on national TV when speaking about the incident. the other senior leader who had watched all these does not seem to have learnt the lesson.
Jaswant Singh.
our jaswant singh went a step further, after praising jinnah, he went on to criticize nehru and sardar vallabhai patel for partition..
just in case you do no not know how important he was for BJP, remember kandahar, IC-814, terrorist were released for exchange of hostages. it was jaswant singh who went with the terrorist to secure the release of hostage. now our jaswant singh did some historic research and writes a book about jinnah, he was promptly thrown out of the party.
Jayalalitha
in tamil if a lady is un-married you are supposed to call her 'selvi', if married you should call her 'tirumathi'. now you might be wondering why i am taking tamil lessons. well our CM karunanidhi has called jayalalitha 'tirumathi' obviously refering to her past or god knows what..but i think this is certainly very low of an leader or CM to call someone like this. (sorry guys..since this post is about 'J' alphabet i have to include this)
Jonathan Trott
after KP, another South african has come to haunt aussies in the ashes, it was a debut match for jonathan trott, a decider for the series, a crumbling pitch, but still the guy managed to hit a ton on his second innings.

kitchadi
actually writing kitcadi is becoming very easy for me. just try to remember the top news that happened in the week, add some opinion of yours and write it..ok this week was really boring, i got caught myself in a marathon project meeting on friday evening, add to that, i missed the DJ night that happened in my office for I-day celebration. however i did managed to attend other celebrations that happened in the afternoon, courtesy lunch break.
//4 swine flue death in bangalore //
still i have not seen much panic in the city yet, agreed some schools have panicked, closed down, but i have not seen anybody in my office with surgical mask. however when you come to public transpaort, you will find IT girls using their duppatah as surgical mask, i think their fashion statement does not allow surgical mask, guys in public transport are scared a lot, you will find atleast 3-4 guys with absolutely no symptoms wearing mask. from what i have seen the infections have spread a lot. the proportion of infection to the number of death reported is still less. somewhere i read that even though there is no medicine to prevent the infection, over a period of time, human body itself will build its own defense mechanism against this virus.
//I-day headlines ///
what will be the headlines in a i-day ?, obviously there will be a presidents message on the eve, and prime minister message after flag hoisting. neither of these were top news in india. gues what, sharukh khan hogged all the headlines, apparently sharukh khan name flashed a red alert in a US airport, and state homeland questioned him for 2 hours. our Don got p****d off, wonder why there was so much fuss about questioning him for 2 hours. agreed he is a global icon, agreed he represents indian entertainment industry. without any offense to srk fans, we all know how bollywood industry was connected to D-company and underworld some time back, and how some have funded it. media went overboard to make a fuss, one channel reported people all over india are hugely upset on independence day for what happened to SRK.
kichadi over....will be continued next week.

celebrity sport
current faces of indian cricket, harbhajan and yuvraj have given out statements on how it is unacceptable for them as cricketers in india to sign the clause. nobody seems to convince them, initially mahesh bhupathi and sania mirza tried to send a message to them, they spoke about how as a sportsmen they had a moral obligations to be part of the system like this, and how they didnt have any objection to that. then came Abhnav bhindra, the only person to have won a individual olympic gold, well abhinvav went a step further, he told basically the issue is to do with the lack of knowledge on the clause for cricketers and went on to gave a short guide on how to folow the WADA gudielines without much fuss, and how he has been following it. then came badmiton sensation 19 year old saina nehwal, well i liked her comments a lot, her comment came immediatly after yuvraj comments came on how it affects his time with family and how they are much superior,in terms of the number of times they are on foreign tour, saina straight away rubbished the theory of cricketers spending less time with family and hence cannot be compared with other sportsmen.
now our crciketers who are still thinking themselves as a special breed of sportsmen, are thinking who are these guys to advice them, they had easily insulted president of india and had get away with that, they had rebuffed sports minister number of times, now who are these other sportsmen to advice them.
i have read various forums supporting cricketers stand, most of the arguments would be
//in a calendar year they paly a lot, unlike other sportsmen, they get very little time with family,//
this was the reason abhinav bindra gave a special guide on how to follow, he goes on to explain howit will easily blend into your daily routine and in short he says ""... you’re ready to pee when you get up in the morning and that’s all they would ask for.”
//BCCI accepts any in-competition testing, but outside the competitionit is not acceptable for them //
of all the arguments this sounded the most childish one for me, we all know cricketers are prone to injuries, waht if these injured players take some banned drugs to come out of these injuries fast, i think this was the precise reason out of competition testing have started in world sports.
//crciket is a skilled game, performance enhancing drugs cannot be used to influence the game///
we play test matches for 5 days, bowlers bowl long spells for 10-15 overs without break, batsmen sometime bat continously for an entire day, i cannot see this happening in many other sports in the world. if that is not enough why does a shooter like abhinav has to go through all the torture of drugs testing, what does a olyimpic shooter can benefit from drugs, or how tiger woods, who had already signed up with WADA can benefit
//cricketers are natinal treasure, they are at security risk,if they are to tell about their whereabouts to WADA //
this is the single most valuabe reason that BCCI would be fighting, already sachin and dhoni are terrorist target for some time now. may be they need some excpetion.
whereabouts clause is controverisal accpeted, but there are different ways to protest, you dont come out and show yourself as a superior breed when compared to other sports in india. few years back it was dravid, ganguly and sachin who were the face of cricket in india, now we have harbhajan, yuvraj and dhoni...

spirit of cricket
..if somebody asks me about best photographs captured in a cricket pitch, i would rate this right at the top. what is so special about this, read on.
Imagine India vs pakistan match in a worldcup match, animosity and importance of the match will be similar when it comes to ashes series, some say it is the mother of all test series. here it was england fighting a very hard batlle and just when they thought they had the match in hand, Aussies last wicket pair put up a tough fight, for almost 10-15 overs bret lee took several body blows, faced fiery bowling from harmison, flintoff and co.
this match happened in edgbaston ground, in birmingham. second match of the 2005 ashes series which aussies were leading 1-0. flintoff played a big part in the match, made significant batting scores in both innings and bowled a very decisive match winning spells, there was one spell where he was literally unplayable and also took 3 wickets in 4 balls.
from an win situation for england, the match went to the point when aussies were left with just 3 runs to get, with 1 wicket left. then kaprowicz made that fatal mistake, instead of taking another blow in his body or ducking under a fast bouncer, i think till date for england this would be an magical moment, after the final wicket, crowds and barmy army went bersek, palyers went crazy celebrating the win. then came this picture, being the man of the match and playing is heart out, flintoff didnt rush to the stumps to collect memorablia, or was not found running around the ground with shirts removed. he went down on his knees and was seen consoling bret lee, who took several body blows from his bowling.
though unfair, there are another 2 parallel instances i always compare this with
aus vs india, 2nd test match, sydney, remember how they celbrated in sydney when india was in a similar situation and the final batsmen left was anil kumble who was also then captain. nobody even bothered to shake hands with him, the team won the match only because of bucknor blunders, but still celebrated as though they have captured the world.second.this might not be a right comparison, ind vs pak in T20 WC final. miserable misbah,.dhoni's boys.
when engalnd finally won the ashes series, and all the soccer like celebration were over. Flintoff was asked to comment on that incident of him consoling bret lee..what did he really say to bret lee. he answered them in humour, part of the transcript
"".....We were all celebrating and I saw Brett Lee down on his knees and I just went up to him, put my arm around him and said: It's 1-1 you Aussie Bastard!"""'
years later, bret lee when asked for a comment..was serious in his answer.
""That moment for him to come down and shake hands, and the photo that came out of it, that to me is the spirit of cricket. """

sunday
...today i lost my cooling glass, it would be close to 3 years since i purchased, and i rarely used it. as i was getting ready to church i found that my coolers were lying near my vehicle key, and as usual i ignored its existence. as i was proceeding out of house i realised i was wearing a very beautiful blue t-shirt (self build up...kindly ignore), and went on to imagine how my blue coolers would be a perfect match..for my wear. this is how i weared my cooling glass.
church service went on well, and on my way back to our house we stopped by to look after few things in a levis showroom, though it was meant to be a window shopping for me, i was very impressed with an slim fit, black caudroy full hand shirt. one young lady in the shop saw my interest and asked me to check if it fits in a trial room. now this is where i lost my precious posession. so i kept my coolers in the change room and then checked the shirt, was very happy with the fit, and checked out of the shop paying for the shirt, much happy with the unexpected purchase in the morning. on my way back to house we stopped by in a restaurant, and for a change in sunday we had a vegetarian food and just as i was getting back into the house, i realised i was not having my dress matching coolers over my nose.
i speeded back to the shop only to be told by their staff that it is difficult to get back that cooling glass. one guy there went on to tell how people have lost 30k-40k costing mobiles in the change room, and few people who have also lost their wallet. though i am not much worried about the value of my coolers, it was kind of stylish one (atleast thats what i thought) which i had for a long time. i wrote my name and number in a book in the shop asking those guys to call me if something comes up in the end of day.
hopefully i will think of some better things to write in my next weekend.

**ex-president abdul kalam was frisked by continental airline staff in an indian airport. this incident happened some 3 months back and suddenly came to light this week. even PM has expressed concern over this. continental airlines though are standing by their policies and have said they followed US law, some state homeland law that was made after 9/11 . does US law precede Indian law in india ?. indian law says not to frisk him, US law says to frisk him. now the boarding is happening in India...what law should these authorities follow. ***
**there is a distinct difference between the way sub-continent teams and teams such as australia, south africa and england play test matches, sub continent teams always take a lot of time to set a target in the fourth innings which in most cases end in dull draw, be it dhoni or kumble or any other captains, they are never confident to set a target, only when they cross 600+ they feel secured to declare the innings. and they take too much time to set that target that the oppositions will be forced to play for draw. srilanka didn't go for a win in their last test match, though they had enough wickets in hand. Australia in other hand though set a record total to chase, went for the win and never played to draw the match. **
**india is all set to complete nuclear triad, they have built a nuclear submarine, in addition to the already existing land based and air based nuclear missiles. submarine has been named 'arihant'. **
**informaton and broadcasting ministry has sent a notice to star plus channel for broadcasting 'saach ka saamna' program. curious after reading this news i watched the program. with just one telecast i happened to see, i realised the main publicity or success of the show lies in asking an husband or wife in front of their spouse wether they cheat the other and goes on to ask some very obscene question. we are speaking about reality show in a tv here, not some scenes happening in a A rated movie. well this program might have been a success across various countries, and i am not sure what kind of questions they ask, but i think there are certain social and moral values we have in our country, it is a shame on persons who come on show and speak about their dark life, atleast i cant imagine a tamil tv hosting this kind of prograam , there are lot of moral policing available for stopping this in tamil nadu, remember how khusbhu cried and asked apology for making some comment on pre-marital sex. ****

... 'hangover',a must watch for movie buffs, if you are planning to go to this movie my advise is to take few rounds of high drink, take your friends and watch the movie in a theatre...you would most likely end up rolling on the floor with laughter.you also would have to make sure to watch the movie even after it ends and when they put information of the cast....i mean the loudest laughter in theatre will happen during this part of the movie only.
one of my friend got so impressed with the story that he actually went to LA with his friend, and this friend of mine who has been a teetotaller all his life, even started drinking just to enjoy the way it happens in movie..

fitness first
..well the first time i have joined a fitness centre, for almost a week since joining i was just running and running basically doing only cardio exercises, ignoring all the heavy weight machinery and equipments in the gym, now one morning as i was sweating out running, a guy comes up to me and calls me to join his class, ok this is where i started doing some serious workouts in gym.
body pump, this is the class name and it happens in a studio kind of room, an instructor would take a class for 1 hour, program starts with workout on thigh muscle and goes on to strengthen all other muscles in your body, you have to lift bars with weight and do exercises along with the bar in synchronous with the music playing in the background.. on my first day i was not able to complete the class itself and this alarmed me, as there were not so fit girls around me who were easily going through the class. it was not until completing the next 3-4 classes that the instructor came up to me and told i am doing well. after a month or so i stopped going to this class and started going to a different class.
spinning...this class is all about cycling and happens in a different studio with very colourful lighting's as well, they say in a single class you can burn around 200-300 calories. i have observed that this class is quite popular and mostly the classes are full, the instructor will simulate a environment where you will be warming up, racing, climbing up a hill, and climbing down,i started liking this class very much and am attending only this class now regularly.
it is almost 2 months since i joined this centre, though there are some visible improvements in my fitness, it is still no where near my goal i was aiming to achieve. this is mostly due to my eating habits and my not so good control over that....

central cabinet
the first minister to get some serious work was our foreign minister, s.m.krishna. just days after he took charge of his seat, there was a gurudwara shoot out in vienna. which initially looked like any other shootout in a foreign country snowballed into a serious headache for government. just when he thought he had things in control, there was australia. there was students.. and there was racist attack.
health minister, gulam nabi azad, now this is more serious than anything, a global epidemic, pandemic, government says it has stocked enough medicine and repeatedly assures people not to panic, till now there was not a single death and most cases have already been cured. though i am not judgemental on his performance with this single issue i think he has done good in this short period. there is a perception that he is not qualified for this ministry, and doesn't have knowledge on his ministry, well lets remember he is a heavyweight and crisis manager for his party for a long time.
agriculture minister..sharad pawar...mostly press releases and statements are coming from cabinet secretary only. in his previous term managed to give undue importance to cricket more than his agri ministry. not a competent minister specially in crisis situation. continues to be involved and interested in BCCI more than farmers.
in my opinion, government master stroke came when it appointed nanden nilekani for national id card project., with a cabinet rank. i think this ministry is in the best hands. in a developing country like india, going forward there should be more technocrats in ministry apart from politicians. our PM was not an politician when he was finance minister in early 90's and we all know how he was involved in globalization of indian economy.
may be nandan nilekani induction in central cabinet is also signs of things to come .....

Hype.P.L
when IPL became a big hit in its first season, there was a conception in cricket fraternity on how it has brought out domestic talent and played a big part in few youngsters getting springboarded into national team...at the end of first season, we had the likes of Ghoni, ravindra jadega getting selected on national team with their sole contribution in IPL alone...however during their national duty captain didn't have enough faith on them and they were mostly not palyed and sometimes dropped immediately after touring.
IPL season 2, apart from the usual aussies domination, there were some indian beacons like ojha, pandey(bangalore), abhishek nayar. as expected the national team selection after IPL has again rewarded them, with the inclusion of abhishek nayar and nehra solely on thier IPL performance. ok now the question, is it justified in selecting players on their performance in IPL alone ignoring there contribution in ranji trophy and other domestic competition, does a bowler bowling just 24 balls in a match prove his merit. or a batsmen hitting 3 sixes in an over suddenly becomes more important than an other domestic player who has a better average and technique.
all these first time selected members, as though reading from a written script say, how much IPL helped them particularly playing alongside international players and performing against or along with them. in my opinion they are carrying a wrong confidence if they are thinking or relying only on their exploits in IPL alone. now Abhishek nayar might have hit Flintoff for 3 sixes in an over in a match against chennai, or nehra might have kept Pitersen tied down and taken his wicket.if you try to repeat that in a 50 over match against England in Lords, then you are most likely to be proved wrong.
the world T20 champions, Pakistan did not have any IPL experience this season, with all pakistani contracts suspended by IPL, and as if that is not enough to red face Modi....people were thinking about ICL when abdul Razaaq made crucial contribution in semifinal and final matches. No doubt IPL is a good entertainment, good earning for players, good finance for the board..but i think it is not a good idea to reward IPL performers with a team selection, conveniently ignoring thier stats in other domestic tournaments.
later this year there is going to be a T20 champions league tournament, another question, how can you call it champions league, when the domestic leagues that contributed to world T20 champions are not represented. It is no luck or co-incidence that pakistanis made it to the final twice in a row, everybody knows that they have been having very successfull t20 domestic competition for a very long time. BCCI will throw its money and power to make champions league tournament success, but without pakistani presence the tournament is not complete or atleast lack quality cricket. It would be worth watching the likes of gilchrist and symmonds face pakistani pacers, rather than seeing them belt hapless bowlers(read delhi bowlers).
coming to the worl cup result, personally i was very happy that sri lanka lost the final..and i guess when the entire country would have supported srilanka to win in final, most people down down south would have loved seeing srilankans bite the dust. that is tamilnadu for you.

kangaroo attacks slumdog
suddenly students are being stabbed, beaten with screw drivers, cars being burnt, petrol bombs being hurled. hungry Indian media had got a beautiful story to run for a month. closeup of bruised student with swollen red face, another student in life support, another very ..very closeup image of abdomen stitches are common pictures in TV now. from what i have heard and seen in online press the Australian media hardly cared or reported any of these incidents. also till date there were hardly any arrests made regarding these incidents. seems like kangaroos are having a nice tiger dish(tandoori) down under.
well somehow this made me think that, the home country or people here or the media here care much more for these citizens who leave the country for higher studies and most likely settle abroad. if a prominent Sikh is assassinated in Austria an entire state in India goes to bundh, buses and trains are being burned and highways blocked, it takes several days to return to normalcy. if an andhra student is killed in US there are debate and resolutions getting passed in state assembly and not to mention headline news in national media. there were rally by students in Chennai against recent attack in Australia. great ! good stand for your countrymen when they are in trouble.show solidarity, politicians and governments mostly forced by their moral obligations tries to get justice for these victims.
OK..now what you get back in return for all this. the single most huge contribution that NRI's have made over several years is entertaining bollywood, kollywood, tollywood artists, inviting them for shows, spending money on amitabh, ash, abhishek's movements. latest trend being they have started inviting cricket stars also. the recent most shocking event that happened in India was 26/11 the entire country mourned over the tragedy, central government sent emissaries to all countries to put pressure on Pakistan, and to some extent it achieved to arrest key people involved. now the obvious question is did Indian's living abroad go out of their way to support the cause, was there any signs or shows of solidarity, a silent rally or anything of that sort. another most intriguing aspect is writing books, blogs and articles showing the country in a very poor light, some of these books have went on to win the coveted 'Booker prize' award and some have made out to be a blockbuster Oscar winning movie, all at the expense of showing the dark secrets of the home country, these people who have gone from this country and settled abroad know very well what to sell in the market, don't they.
i am no saint to write this, but the last time i checked, ..this blog though trivial gives me liberty to write this. thanks for reading.

Movie Review
Movie. Angels and Demons.
adaptation from Dan brown novel. the novel if you read will be simply breathtaking, a fiction that covers physics, relegion, history, arts and much more. the book shows the early catholic church in a very poor light, and how medieval churches considered science as thier main enemy.
having read the novel the suspense element in the movie has already gone, it is known pretty much beforehand what will happen and how it will happen in the movie. still the only consolation is beautiful picturesque of churches and artifacts in Vatican city, even this interest were gone after sometime when i realised it would be highly impossible for the crew to get access inside churches in vatican.
the novel is 100 times more interesting and thrilling. if you are planning to watch this movie, skip it. get the book and read, best selling novel by Dan Brown.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article6350563.ece

what went wrong !!!
since i have followed the election extensively, which most of my blog readers would agree, today i thought i can put down my own views on this election.
where did BJP fail.
1. they took up the issue of series of terror attacks in the country, they started the campaign with that being there main issue against the current government....mid way through their campaign they found out that the ghosts of the kandahar has come to haunt them.
2. vibrant gujarat..they tried to show the rest of the country that that they have leaders who have done very good in area's of development and administration. and they made Modi as their chief election campaigner. nobody has to teach the opposition to counter this factor, don't they.
the only state where Modi didn't campaign, apparently Nitish didn't allow him to campaign in bihar and BJP allies swept polls there.
3. week PM....now this is very interesting. they made a quite man so upset that he came out all guns blazing. apparently there was some 'walk the talk' program LKA did some one year back. which PM quoted and made the 'iron man' surrender. within a span of 2 days sonia, mms, rahul and priyanka ...kept saying so much about kandahar and how he was the home minister then and was not informed about the major decision they took at that time. LKA had nothing to answer for that, he said it is becoming personal and refused to respond.
4. when a journalist throw'd shoe at p.c, congress dropped not one, but two of their party nominations in delhi...dude dropping a candidate in delhi requires lot of gut's really.
when CEC gopalasami, sent an advisor to BJP to drop Varun gandhi, they showed with their constituion experts that CEC has no right to do so and went ahead with their nomination....pilibhit or varun hardly mattered for BJP, but the real message what BJP tried to send to the electorate was, they stood by what varun told in that alleged CD.
5. chief players for BJP - advani, modi and varun, whereas chief players of congress had a clean image - sonia, mms, rahul and priyanka.media being congress friendly the later group hogged headlines before the elections.
in 2004 when BJP was in power, 'india shining' campaign let them down, rural sector didn't have anything to cheer. and they thought that government was too urban friendly.
in 2009 congress didn't make that mistake, actually the recession forced them not to make that mistake. all that they were doing was countering all major allegations BJP made against them, and when they countered they countered it hard. being a election with no major issues BJP went to an extent of making swiss bank money an major election issue, it is definitely an issue to discuss in parliament but not in an election field.
it is easier to write about a losing party, thats the reson i worte this post very easily. and just an after thought at the end of this post i realised i didn't write anything about LEFT failure. this was expected the traditional voters who backed left all along have realised that n-deal is not so bad for the country. they didnt like left trying to pull down the government during its tenure and voted for stability.
'jeya ho ! jaya போ !'

Politics..is it a Ditch ?
...all the interest i had in IPL last year had gone down this year, mainly due to my extreme interest in politics and also due to chennai SK losing consecutive matches. Contrary to some of my friends, who blame politicans for everything, somehow over the years i have learned to respect political leaders or people in public life.
the first time i was amazed by an tamil leader was seeing Vaiko's fierce speech in parliament some 8-10 years back.(yes a bad start). though over the years the same person has become my most hated leader now.
another tamil leader that i started admiring is p.Chidambaram, when he carries that suitcase to present budget(he has presented budget many times) wearing that traditional tamil dress, it is a proud moment for tamil's. this guy has studied in harvard and they say he is from some royal family in south tn, still he wears traditional dress and his interviews in tamil will never have single english words.
the most recent speech i liked in parliament was made by Omar abdullah, kashmiri political scion, this happened during the no-confidence motion that ruling party faced an year back. for 3 days all elected MP's from all over india spoke and argued, and this guy moslty in early thirties spoke for 10 minutes and media and papers in india carried his speech for the next 2 days. if you wish to hear his speech, it is available in youtube.
coming to recent events, famous sound bytes that created news and my rankings based on the attention it got.
varun--- "^&$$#$%...".........." that was not my voice"
Modi-- "congress is budiya(old and week), gudiya(doll)"
priyanka-- "lets discuss development instead of budiya and gudiya"
Advani -- " weak PM"
Manmohan -- "weeping in corner, BJP Iron man was quick to melt"
Rahul --" i want to ask 2 questions to Advani....."
BJP spokesperson,...."PM manmohan singh is Night watchman..he has to vacate for Rahul"
ok..... as i write this post there are 2 phases of elections that got over.
when 26/11 happened we saw candle light marches and 'we want change' sort of campaign mostly by people in metros, now 5 months after the event there is a genral election happening here and statistics have come out that, voter turnout amongst urban population has not improved and there were poor turnout in cities like bangalore, this amidst many campaings this time by media and other organsations to go out and vote.
now lets put this into perspective, which one is going to help their cause, marches and campaign like this or..going out and choosing/punishing their representative.
it is true that you name any politcian, there will be loads and loads of negative publicity and most of the time serious crime offenses against them, but that has never stopped me from admiring select few leaders or politicians, may be my veiw will change over the years..may be not.

news bulletin...
written below are few of very interesting news i'd followed recently. these news interested me a lot and hence took a place in my blog.
'Mission impossible-part 4'.
RAW nabs Bangalore blasts suspect in top-secret mission.
In a top secret mission, a team of the Research and Analysis Wing tracked down an absconding accused in the Bangalore serial blasts case in Muscat, and sneaked him out of Oman, since India doesn't have an extradition treaty with that country.
'trimurty-2009'.
Congress, BJP, CPM all three have joined and formed alliance.
yes, you had read it right. the news extract below.
Setting aside ideological differences, the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Communist Party of India Marxist have joined hands in Sikkim to unitedly fight Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling's Sikkim Democratic Front in the assembly polls scheduled to be held later this year.
'Crimson tide-part 2'
two nuclear submarine collide in Atlantic.
UK and france submarines collide, Both submarines' hulls are covered with sound absorbent tile(no echoes -no sonar) to reduce detection by sonar, so the boats' navigational passive sonar would not have detected the presence of the other.
technology that helped submarines to go undetected had almost resulted in a nuclear catastrophe.

change has('nt) come...
"yes we can"...."the change we can believe in"
these were the main propaganda that was done by senator obama during his race for presidential nomination and election campaign.now let us see the situation after the senator becomes the president. surprisingly during his address to the country after his swearing in ....he went blah blah on all the common things like fighting terrorism, fighting poverty....and nowhere in his address he mentions "yes we can"..."the change we can believe in", instead there were words like, the current crisis in economy may not be resolved immediately..."it will take time to resolve, but we will prevail".
i would like to ask all obama supporter's this question..when there were thousands of people assembled in a cold weather, looking up to him as a man who is going to solve all the crisis the nation is going through, why was he not able to tell those lines "yes we can". that's because the realisation stuck him now that the situation is beyond his control.
another indicator was world market during and after the power change, there was no indicator to that effect worldwide, in fact many markets traded in red during and after his swearing in.
it is election year in India, five years back there was a slogan used by ruling BJP it was called "india shining", and after the election only they found out that it was shining only for big corporates and high class people's and not for farmers..and the ruling party paid the price for that campaign.
until recently before the results for 5 state election came out, BJP had "fight against terrorism" as there main election slogan, but after the negative results of that election, now they are unsure what to use, and they are being extra careful this time to choose a correct slogan. I think BJP had to go out and make strong regional alliance if they are thinking of winning this election, single majority is not going to happen for any party, it is unfortunate but these are days of co-allition government..
congress for there part are confident that they will have farmers vote this time, "farmers loan waiver scheme" will help them definetly. revival of railway's, N-deal are other achievements, that they will try to project. and as usual congress is not going to project any leader. who knows it might also be rahul gandhi, unless otherwise his "inner voice" says something to him....
third front, already they have projected mayawati as PM candidate and maya is riding on suppport from left parties. Left might not be in a very favourable position this election, personally i think there ideologies might take the country atleast 5-10 years back. i think mayawati can forget becoming a PM and make an ally either with congres or BJP, atleast she might become a king maker.
and now my blah-blah is over....

கப்பலே கவுந்தாலும் 'accountல்' கை வைக்காதே...would be more appropriate for India Inc i think.
next time if someone tells you an tamil proverb, remember it does not really mean for what it was said.

amazing grace..........
...i have been hearing lot of music these days, and was particularly listening to this artist songs a lot and thought of writing about them.
lean rimes....'cant fight the moonlight'..this song is one of my all time favourite and was featured in a movie 'coyote ugly'. the movie is about a small town girl coming to a big city in US and making it big .
lean rimes - 'amazing grace'. this song is an christian hymn. never ever heard a person singing in such a high pitch....my laptop speaker usually goes into resonance when i put this song . and if it was put in my player...it was usually my eardrums will be in the verge of a major crash.well the reason i like the song was largely due to its lyrics. it was written by a person who was involved in slave trade..it goes something like this, and contains bible verses in its lyrics..."amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me, i once was lost but now am found , was blind but now i see.....""
you might listen to the high pitch in which the singer sings this song. have managed to upload here.
..not a great lover of music, the reason for my sudden interest is largely due to an mp3 player gift sent from my friend in US..thanks mate .i know you would be reading this....
